Rabbi Homnick comes from a family known for both deep faith and community service. His late father, Rabbi Dr. Moshe Homnick, was a respected Torah scholar and psychologist who helped many people through life’s hardest challenges. Growing up in this environment taught Rabbi Homnick the importance of caring for others and serving his community.
Rabbi Homnick is an ordained Rabbi and a United States Chaplain. He studied for many years at Mesivta Tifereth Yerushalayim, where he learned from Rabbi David Feinstein Z”L, one of the most respected Torah scholars of his time. From his studies, Rabbi Homnick learned to see every situation through a lens of faith, kindness, and respect for every person.

Much of his work focuses on helping people who have been incarcerated and supporting them when they return to their communities. He understands that life after prison can be very difficult — many people come out with emotional and financial struggles. Rabbi Homnick works hard to raise both funds and awareness to help these individuals and their families rebuild their lives.
As the need for his help grew, Rabbi Homnick realized he couldn’t do it alone. He founded Pidyon Shvuyai Yisroel (PSY) to involve more people and bring the community together to support this cause.
In addition to his rabbinical and chaplaincy work, Rabbi Homnick also has over 20 years of experience in business and management. This background helps him lead PSY with strong leadership, compassion, and skill — ensuring the organization continues to grow and serve those in need.
Rabbi Homnick started The United States Chaplain Group Inc. — in partnership with New York State, The Chaplain Group of America, and The Institute Of Clinical Pastoral Education — to help solve the shortage of chaplains in the United States.
He wanted to give caring, compassionate people an easy way to get trained through the Crisis Chaplaincy Course and start helping others right away.
By partnering with the Institute of Pastoral Care of Florida, Rabbi Homnick made it simple for members to earn their board certification (CPE) and turn their passion for helping people into a meaningful and rewarding career.
He also built a supportive community where Chaplains can get guidance, connect with others, and find new opportunities to grow — both spiritually and professionally.
After you complete and pass the Chaplaincy Course, you'll join a supportive member community designed to help you grow as a Chaplain.
One course. Lifetime certification. A community that supports you every step of the way.
Rabbi Homnick started NYSCG to make chaplain training simple and open to anyone who wants to help others in crisis.
It began with just a few volunteers learning to comfort and guide people in crisis — in hospitals, prisons, and local communities.
As more people joined, it became a trusted organization offering certified training, mentorship, and support for Chaplains nationwide.
Today NYSCG continues to grow — partnering with top institutes and helping Chaplains serve with care and compassion across the country.
